Tina Fey May Follow Up ’30 Rock’ With A ‘Mean Girls’ Musical

The series finale of 30 Rock is this Thursday night, which raises a few important questions: What is Tina Fey going to do next? Do you think the series would have gotten better ratings if one character had been a cool talking dog named Ace who wore a leather jacket and hustled suckers at pool? Do you think NBC will replace it with a single-camera comedy about a cool talking dog named Ace who wears a leather jacket and hustles suckers at pool? Would anyone like to read my pilot “Hey, Quit Scratching,” about a cool talking dog named Ace who wears a leather jacket and hustles suckers at pool? And so on.

Luckily, we have an answer to at least one of those questions. It appears Tina Fey’s next step may be a Mean Girls musical.

Mean Girls fans, look alive! Because the fetch Lindsay Lohan movie might be coming to a theater near you…as a musical!

“Maybe! We want to. I would love to,” Tina Fey told E! News on the red carpet at the SAG Awards. “I’m trying to develop it with my husband, who does all the music for 30 Rock and I think Paramount’s onboard.” [E! Online]

While I had originally hoped her next project would be Mean Girls 2: The Ballad of Glen Coco, I suppose a musical is okay, too. I mean, if nothing else it gives me an excuse to post the “Jingle Bell Rock” scene from the original Mean Girls on a random Monday in January. Yup, no complaints here.
