Tom Hanks Had A Surprising Role In ‘Girls’ Star Allison Williams’ Wedding

As most fans are aware, Allison Williams‘ character on Girls is only maybe a slightly exaggerated deviation of her own persona (although we don’t yet know Williams’ position on bum-eating). This is so much so that as Marnie was getting engaged and married on the show, Williams was going through a similar experience in real life with her now-husband, College Humor co-founder Ricky Van Veen.

Rita Wilson of course plays Marnie’s horrible, shrewish mother on the series, lending the sole point of sympathy to the character. It was during filming her Girls wedding that Williams attempted to build up confidence to ask Wilson — an accomplished Broadway singer who released her first solo album a few years ago — to sing at her own wedding. But as she explained to Jimmy Fallon Wednesday night, she instead managed to score Wilson’s husband Tom Hanks to actually officiate the wedding, after Wilson casually mentioned that he was ordained.

So, just a head’s up to all you engaged couples out there: Hanx is doing weddings now, and if he’ll officiate the wedding of the uptight chick from Girls and the dude from College Humor, I don’t see why he wouldn’t do yours, as well. He seems like a pretty cool guy.
