Before Joseph Gordon-Levitt was “JGL,” the dreamy star of Premium Rush, he was on NBC’s exterrestrial comedy 3rd Rock from the Sun as Tommy, the oldest member of the Solomon family, though he appeared on Earth as the youngest. Gordon-Levitt wasn’t very happy when 3rd Rock — which also starred John Lithgow, Kristen Johnson, and French Stewart — was on (he hated the idea of “celebrity”), but it was a well-known, critically lauded show that gave him enough recognition to later land roles in 10 Things I Hate About You, Brick, (500) Days of Summer, 50/50, and The Dark Knight Rises. Also, HitRECord J(oe)GL’s awesome, so today’s GIFs of the Week is centered on his 3rd Rock days. His hairstyle has not aged well.
