Filming For ‘The Walking Dead’ Season Seven Begins One Month After The Controversial Finale

It’s been exactly a month since the controversial season six finale of The Walking Dead. A lot’s happened, and nothing’s happened. Fans have complained and petitioned and cracked codes; heads have exploded; former cast members have responded to the episode; the showrunner has insisted he wasn’t “trying to f*ck” with viewers; and new characters have been teased.

And yet, we still don’t have an answer as to whose head Negan smashed like an old pumpkin. That could change soon, because filming for season seven is under way in Georgia, as announced by director Greg Nicotero on Instagram.

Set leaks are a common problem for popular television shows (Game of Thrones book readers know a certain, very expensive battle is coming because someone took blurry photos), and The Walking Dead is the biggest show on TV. It’s inevitable (and unfortunate) that Negan’s victim will be revealed before season seven premieres in, most likely, October. Don’t bother begging Nicotero on Instagram for a tease, though, because he told the Hollywood Reporter that “we have not filmed it yet and I don’t know if the person knows yet or not.” Could he just be acting cagey? Certainly. But you’d probably want to mess with so-called fans, too, if they were sending you death threats.
