Weekend Preview: The 2016 Oscars, ‘Fuller House,’ And ‘The Walking Dead’

The 88th Annual Academy Awards (ABC, Sunday 8:00 p.m.) — The actual show starts at 8:30 p.m., but ABC’s red carpet special kicks off at 8 (E! will be like that annoying friend who shows up for parties early, as it starts broadcasting at 5:30). Chris Rock hosts, and maybe Leo finally wins?

The Walking Dead (AMC, Sunday 9:00 p.m.) — Something about the other side and the grass being greener (or the dirt less brown?) has Rick and Co. pondering their next move from Alexandria.

Fuller House (Netflix, Anytime) — The reviews are in and they’ve got most people screaming, “Have mercy!” or, “Cut-it-out!” If you’re still pickin’ up what the Tanners are puttin’ down — or just want to watch for nostalgia’s sake — it’s available for your streaming pleasure.

Vinyl (HBO, Sunday 9:00 p.m.) — Maury mixes with the mob and Richie has an embarrassing showing at a big party, all while Clark’s trying to sign Alice Cooper. Rock ‘n’ roll, baby. [Throws TV through plate glass window]

Girls (HBO, Sunday 10:00 p.m.) — Adam and Jessa bump into each other at AA and do their manic pixie dream thing for the rest of the day while Hannah’s dad has some trouble being single. I have heard that it’s hard out here for a pimp.

Togetherness (HBO, Sunday 10:30 p.m.) — Alex comes home and Tina ruins everything by acting predictably crazy and giving his new girlfriend the stink eye.

Last Week Tonight With John Oliver (HBO, Sunday 11:00 p.m.) — John Oliver offers a poignant take on something dreadful going on in America or abroad, and makes everyone laugh while doing so.

The Vampire Diaries (The CW, Friday 8:00 p.m.) — Ah, man. Stefan heads down to the Big Easy, which means he just missed Mardi Gras. Alaric scoops up the twins and heads for the Big D.

Sleepy Hollow (FOX, Friday 8:00 p.m.) — Jenny stands up to her father and Atticus comes back around, much to the chagrin of that pesky FBI outfit.

Childrens Hospital (Adult Swim, Friday 11:00 p.m.) — Where else would they hold a “Doctor of the Year” convention but in b-e-a-utiful Las Vegas, Nevada?!

Downton Abbey (PBS, Sunday 9:00 p.m.) — This week’s episode is pre-empted (thanks for nothing, The Academy). Instead, you get this lovely special featuring the show’s historical advisor.

Late Night Guests

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon — Nathan Lane, Keri Russell and Mary Lynn Rajskub
