Breaking Bad (AMC, Sunday 10 p.m.) — Vince Gilligan noted that the two big episodes this half season would be five and seven. This is seven. There are two characters now that are totally extraneous: Lydia and Landry (or whatever his real name is). I think one doesn’t make it to episode eight. Also, remember that crackhead theory I floated yesterday about Walt turning state’s evidence? Well, if Gilligan is circling through the Pacino films, maybe he’ll eventually land on Donnie Brasco.
Copper (BBC American, Sunday 10 p.m.) — If you were let down by the premiere episode last week, the good news is: This one is slightly less of a let down. The bad news is: It’s still not very good.
Newsroom (HBO, Sunday 10 p.m.) — Season finale. I know that a certain colleague of mine loathed last week’s episode (*cough* Kurp *cough*), but I thought it was great. Apparently, I’m still in the bag for Sorkin. Anyway, I’m sad to see the season go because I’ve enjoyed defending Newsroom against the haters.
True Blood (HBO, Sunday 9 p.m.) — Season finale. No one is sad to see this go. I don’t watch the show, and haven’t since the terrible first season, but I’ve noticed that even the few defenders are bailing on the show now.
Weeds (Showtime, Sunday 10 p.m.) — This season isn’t over yet? There’s still more? GOD. It’s been a slog of a final season. It’s made me miss what a mess it has been the last few years.
Boss (Stars, Friday 10 p.m.) — Great opening episode last week, setting up what loks to be another strong season.
Outlaw Country (FX, Friday 10 p.m.) — This was supposed to be an FX series with John Hawkes, but FX has decided instead not to pick up the series and burn off the pilot tonight. I may watch just to get my John Hawkes fix.
