Weekend Preview: The Season Finales Of The Fall’s Best Two Dramas

The Walking Dead (AMC, Sunday 9 p.m.) — To be fair, this is just the winter finale for The Walking Dead, and like last year, it will return early next year. In the meantime, Sunday’s episode will pit Woodbury vs. The Prison. I kind of hope The Governor dies because I’m excited to watch him die, but on the other hand, I kind of hope he’s around to creep the hell out of the second half of the season.

Boardwalk Empire (HBO, Sunday 9 p.m.) — If Richard Harrow dies, we riot. But it’s just that kind of painful character death that has made Boardwalk Empire so good all along: No fear. Never let a beloved character stand in the way of a good story.

Dexter (Showtime, Sunday 9 p.m.) — Speaking of great characters, Dexter lost one last week — the best reason to watch the drama this year — and with THREE MORE episodes to go this season, there’s hardly any point in watching now. Unless Yvonne Strahovski removes more clothing.

Homeland (Showtime, Sunday 10 p.m.) — While Boardwalk and The Walking Dead go one way, Homeland is going the other: You just knew that having the minds behind 24 on this show would mean that, eventually, they’d push the story lines too hard, too fast. The ambiguity that made this season so much fun last year is all but gone and all we’re left with is Claire Danes’ quivering lip.

Fringe (Fox, WHERE IS IT?) — No Fringe tonight for the second week in a row. It’s the last goddamn season, people. I thought we were done with the long hiatuses between episodes. Let’s wrap this puppy up so we can move on with our lives, people.

Storage Wars: Texas (A&E, Sunday 10 p.m.) — Never seen an episode of Storage Wars, so let me ask you: Have they ever found a dead body inside? Because whenever I see a lot of storage units out in the middle of nowhere, I always think that there must be at least three dead bodies locked up inside of them. Especially those refrigerated units. Otherwise, what DO people put in refrigerated units, if not dead bodies? Groceries?
