Weekend Preview: Two Of Patton Oswalt’s Favorite TV Series

The 86th Annual Academy Awards (ABC, Sunday 8:30 p.m.) — This year’s ceremony will be hosted by Ellen Degeneres, and you can also watch the Red Carpet show starting at 7 p.m. on ABC, or starting at 5:30 p.m. on Bravo if you’re an insane person.

True Detective (HBO, Sunday 9 p.m.) — They were nice enough to take the week off for the Super Bowl, but no such luck up against the second highest-rated annual telecast. This week, according to Nic Pizzolatto, we will definitively find out whether Martin Hart or Rust Cohle are behind any of the killings.

The Walking Dead (AMC, Sunday 9 p.m.) — This is not a spoiler, but both Norman Reedus (Daryl) and Emily Kinney (Beth) are on The Talking Dead after The Walking Dead airs, and you know how they like to plan their guests, hint hint.

Saturday Night Live (NBC, Saturday 11:29) — I don’t know a lot about host Jim Parsons, but I noticed that in his SNL promos that he seems to be, in real-life, just like his Big Bang Theory character, which is actually kind of cool. Emmy-award winning Jim Parsons is a complete and total dork.

Hannibal (NBC, Friday 10:01) — I hope you’ve all been playing catch-up on the series this week in preparation for tonight’s second-season premiere. Nobody does death better than Fuller, and in addition to True Detective, Hannibal is another one of Patton Oswalt’s favorite series. So, if you haven’t yet, jump in now. It’s a fantastic series.

Enlisted/Raising Hope (Fox, Friday 9 p.m.) — No chance in hell that these come back next season, so watch ’em while you can.
