The ‘Westworld’ Season 2 Trailer Threatens To Burn Everything To The Ground

Game of Thrones only has six episodes left, but HBO isn’t worried. There’s another mega-hit that’s coming back soon: Westworld.

The first non-Comic Con trailer for season two, which was directed by co-creator Jonathan Nolan, debuted during the Super Bowl, one of only three instances HBO has ever bought ad time during the game (and the other times, according to Entertainment Weekly, the spots “touted the network as a whole”). That’s not the only pretty penny they played: the trailer uses a cover of Kanye West’s “Runaway.” There’s also rampaging bulls, a smirking Evan Rachel Wood (who warns, “This world is a lie, and we’ll burn it to the ground and build a new world, our world”), the return of Jeffrey Wright’s Bernard, and killer robots.

Obviously.

“If the first season was defined by control, the second season is defined by chaos,” Nolan said. “That’s part of what we come to understand Ford has been planning all along. Ford has set in motion what he thinks is a plan. The nature of that plan is something we explore in the second season — what his intentions are. Are they to let Dolores or the other Hosts escape? Are they simply to teach the human guests a lesson?”

Westworld returns on April 22.
