What’s on Tonight: Now That’s a Party

Archer (FX) — If you can look at the banner image and NOT be intrigued enough to watch this show, I want nothing to do with you. Get out. Leave and never return. (image via)

Community (NBC) — It’s been a while since we’ve gotten a high-concept episode, a drought that will end tonight when Jeff (Joel McHale) throws a Pulp Fiction-themed birthday party for Abed (Danny Pudi).

Jersey Shore (MTV) — Season finale, mercifully. EW has a pretty good interview with producer SallyAnn Salsano about this season and tonight’s finale: “You guys see seven minutes of [fighting] a week, I’m seeing 14 hours.” I do not envy her job. Also on MTV: the season premiere of The Hard Times of RJ Berger.

Parks and Recreation (NBC) — New York Magazine has an excellent column about what makes “Parks and Rec” stand apart from any other leading comedies: the show has moved beyond mining awkwardness for laughs, and instead seeks out the comedy inherent in nice people.

Grey’s Anatomy (ABC) — If you’re a straight man, you probably already hate this show for its preening melodrama and the way exceptionally handsome doctors are constantly sleeping with the unattractive female protagonists. Well, tonight’s show will be EVEN MORE UNAPPEALING: it’s a musical episode. God’s honest truth: I would rather break my hand with a hammer than watch this one hour of television.
