Zach Braff And ‘Scrubs’ Creator Bill Lawrence Are Developing A New Series, Possibly For Netflix

Scrubs aired for 182 episodes over nine seasons on two different networks from 2001 to 2010. According to IMDB, Zach Braff appeared in 175 of those episodes. That’s a lot of episodes. And now it looks like he and his former Scrubs boss, Bill Lawrence, might be working together again, albeit for a much shorter commitment. From The Indepedent:

“I’ve been talking about a new idea with Bill Lawrence who created Scrubs. I don’t know if it will be this year or next.

“I like the idea of cable because I don’t want to do 22 episodes, but I like the idea of this new wave that you can do 12 episodes or eight episodes maybe for cable or Netflix or wherever. There are so many more options now. It’s an exciting time.”

Braff and Lawrence teaming up again is certainly news because they had a successful decade-long run on network television together, and that kind of thing is becoming increasingly rare these days. And ending up on Netflix — or another streaming service like Hulu or Yahoo’s new Screen project — would make for yet another example of bigger names in entertainment bypassing the traditional television avenue to deliver content over the web, so that’s noteworthy too, I suppose. But mostly, this news is important because it gives me an excuse to post the video of Turk dancing to “Poison” by Bell Biv Devoe, which I haven’t done in like two years. Unacceptable. Consider the matter remedied.
