If you’ve been with us for a minute here at TSS, then you know DJ Jamad and DJ Jaycee were early favorites around these parts. The two Atlanta-based DJs consistently dropped classic mixes from the Aphilliates camp at the time and, while that collective is no more, neither DJ has slacked off one bit.
As a resident of Atlanta, I can tell you with certainty that they both wreck the turntables in a live setting. Fortunately for the rest of the world, they both continue to drop great mixes online as well, with this week seeing strong releases from both.
Jamad’s Afromentals Vol. 25 provides the smooth, futuristic soul that listeners are accustomed to from the series. As usual, he puts his foot in the mix, cutting and blending a wide variety of beats and vocals – MF Doom, Adele, Ying Yang Twins, you know, the usual – with style and class. Plus, CP The Artist neatly wrapped it all up and put a bow on the package with the cover art.
Not to be outdone, Jaycee dropped a pair of mixes to promote his upcoming I Love The 80s Party – one of classic pop and R&B cuts and one of Hip-Hop jams – both featuring Jay’s superlative skills and impeccable selections. If you experienced even a little bit of the Reagan decade, you’ve got some high quality reminiscing to do.
