Stephen Curry Had 43 Points, But Kemba Walker Ruined His Homecoming

By / 12.10.13

While all of TSS congregated to laugh at me as the Bears dismantled the Cowboys, perhaps the best game of the night took place in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Just my luck, I miss the Stephen Curry homecoming game by 48 hours. I’ll be in the Queen City Wednesday evening when the Magic come to town, but the game to be at happened last night as Curry and Kemba Walker had their own personal shoot out in the second half.

Dell’s eldest son and the pride and joy of Davidson College finished with a robust stat line: 43 points, six rebounds, nine assists and two blocks on 14-32 shooting (he started 3-11), including 19 in the final frame where he nearly brought Golden State all the way back.

The keyword being “nearly” because Kemba Walker didn’t back down going for 27 of his 31 after intermission. The former UConn standout nailed several key buckets down the stretch highlighted by a big layup to put Charlotte up seven with a little more than 90 seconds remaining.

The 115-111 win puts the Bobcats a game within .500, but still good for sixth in the East. It also ensured their losing streak to the Western Conference wouldn’t exceed 14. Only turning the ball over seven times goes a long way, too.

Meanwhile, Golden State drops to 12-10 – including only 6-8 away from Oracle – ninth out west.
