Peaches Geldof, daughter of Bob Geldof and Paula Yates, has been found dead at her Kent home at the age of twenty-five. The cause of death was “sudden and unexplained.”
Geldof was a model and TV presenter, known for being kind of an eccentric socialite screw-up in the mid-aughts when the likes of Paris Hilton made it fashionable. She was also known for having a fondness for heroin, sadly embracing the drug that killed her mother when she was just 11 years old. However as far as I was aware, following her second marriage in 2012 to Thomas Cohen of the band S.C.U.M., Geldof seemed to have it together. She is survived by two sons, Astala, 20 months old, and Phaedra, 10 months old. The Daily Mail reports:
In a heartbreaking statement her father Bob said: ‘Peaches has died. We are beyond pain. She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us. Writing ‘was’ destroys me afresh. What a beautiful child. How is this possible that we will not see her again? How is that bearable?
We loved her and will cherish her forever. How sad that sentence is. Tom and her sons Astala and Phaedra will always belong in our family, fractured so often, but never broken. Bob, Jeanne, Fifi, Pixie and Tiger Geldof.’
Her husband Thomas Cohen said: ‘My beloved wife Peaches was adored by myself and her two sons Astala and Phaedra and I shall bring them up with their mother in their hearts everyday. We shall love her forever. Thomas Astala and Phaedra Geldof-Cohen.’
This is just really sad. She was a young, beautiful mother with her whole life ahead of her. I hope her family is able to find peace in the coming weeks.
