Joel McHale is having quite the year. Community has returned to its former glorious self, his Seahawks won the Super Bowl (and beat Alison Brie’s 49ers), he’s set to play the supportive best friend in the next Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore movie about amnesiac wedding singers (probably), and, according to Deadline, he’s been tapped as this year’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner host.
They’ve had late-night hosts for the past two years, but now the White House Correspondents Association Dinner is going primetime. Straight out of NBC’s Thursday lineup, Community’s Joel McHale will be the headliner at this year’s politicians and Hollywood-heavy event set for May 3.
“We’re thrilled that Joel will headline the dinner when we celebrate our centennial,” said WHCA president Steven Thomma. “He’s sharp, funny and just the type of comic who can navigate the unique challenge of our dinner, making fun of Democrats, Republicans and especially the news media. Washington can use a little good-natured ribbing,” added the McClatchy Newspapers political editor. (Via)
Jeff Winger and Barack Obama are gonna fat dog it all night long, or at least until Joe Biden, the original Fat Dog, gets drunk and makes a scene.
