Michael Ian Black, Kerri Kenney and Michael Showalter appeared as panelists on Chris Hardwick’s At Midnight Monday night, and were joined by basically all of The State cast members still working: Thomas Lennon, Robert Ben Garant, Ken Marino, Joe Lo Truglio and David Wain all showed up to cheer on (read: humiliate) their former troupe members. Even Michael Patrick Jann, who does a lot of directing nowadays, made a rare appearance on the other side of the camera, looking like some sort of Chris Robinson-Johnny Depp hybrid/sunglasses-wearing-indoors person.
The above clip gives away the big reveal of The State cast hiding out in the audience, but they stick around through the end of the episode; which I’d highly recommend watching all the way through. You can catch it here on Hulu.
It should come as little surprise that Lennon and Garant are also executive producers on At Midnight, because seriously what don’t these guys do. Between acting, writing and directing, it seems like the two have their hands in everything, from the just announced Choose Your Own Adventure project, to the recently released Hell Baby which they wrote, directed, starred in and filmed in Cajun Boy’s house. Lennon was even a series regular on Sean Saves The World, which is now canceled.
