Women Are Getting Plastic Surgery For That Perfect Engagement Ring Selfie Because People Are The Worst

Because people can’t get engaged anymore without posting the ubiquitous Photo Of The Ring On The Finger, you might have noticed that — as it turns out — not everyone is a hand model. As such, women are now opting for plastic surgery before that very special moment in a woman’s life when she posts a picture of her engagement ring on Facebook. Ugh.

The so-called “hand lift” procedure involves Juvederm injections, which is the same stuff used on the face to smooth out wrinkles. From the UK’s Metro:

The procedure takes 5-10 minutes and costs about £800 – just another huge expense on top of all the wedding bills – and, needless to say, men find it a bit ridiculous.

One woman told US news site Pix 11: ‘I never liked how my hands looked, I always thought my hands were a little boyish growing up so I figured why not. Engagement pictures are just around the corner and there’s no better time.’

I have to admit, I’m guilty of snarking on engagement pictures. Just recently I said something along the lines of, that may be a $20,000 ring, but it doesn’t change the fact that she has fat fingers. Unfortunately it doesn’t appear that “hand lipo” is a thing yet, though.

But seriously, if you’re that concerned over an imperfect engagement ring/hand photo, then maybe just, say, don’t post an obnoxious f*cking picture of your engagement ring on Facebook in the first place. This message is brought to you by someone who loathes your joy.
