A Florida Man Killed His Wife, Posted A Picture On Facebook And Turned Himself In

I had to pick a nice photo of Miami to go with this story, because everything else about it is terrible. A 31-year old man named Derek Medina posted an alarming status update on Facebook this morning, as he declared to his friends that he’d be “going to prison” or receiving a death sentence for killing his wife. To prove his point, Medina then posted a photo of his dead wife for all of their friends to see, with the caption “RIP Jennifer Alonso.”

Shortly after posting the photo and status, in which he also claimed that his wife had been punching him, Medina drove to a South Miami police station and turned himself in. The couple had been married for a little more than 15 months, and CBS Miami reported that there was also a 10-year old girl in the residence when police found the body, but her relation is unknown.

UPDATE: Medina is apparently the author of the book “How I Saved Someone’s Life and Marriage and Family Problems Thru Communication,” and naturally people are posting new comments on its Barnes & Noble profile.

And because I hate posting such a negative story, I recommend reading this story out of Tampa about a single father of three whose lawn service trailer and equipment, which he uses to keep them clothed and fed, was stolen. But before you let that bum you out too much, I actually encourage you to read the comments. It’s a little bit of a pick-me-up.
