Batman: Arkham City Has Some Full-On Riddler Action

If there was one slightly infuriating thing about the-otherwise-perfect-game Batman: Arkham Asylum, it was those dang Riddler challenges. Sure, it added extra length to a game that I think we could’ve all played forever, but trying to figure out his obscure Killer Croc puns wasn’t quite as fun as grabbing goons from a gargoyle. (And I’d be afraid to meet the person who found all the question marks without resorting to online hints.)

Well, it looks like the sequel Batman: Arkham City is improving on that, as we’re at least going to see the Riddler in the flesh during the game. Destructoid has more specifics and game art of the riddler, quoting Rocksteady Marketing Game Manager Dax Ginn as saying:

The Riddler experience is not part of the main story, but you can see how much work we put into it. It seems to do them a disservice to call them ‘side missions,’ because we take them really, really seriously.

Apparently, The Riddler will actually threaten Batman, too, instead of just radioing him from a long way off. Now, I’m not really craving a big fight with the Riddler (it looks like Batman will have plenty of other people to punch through walls without him), but at least it looks like he’ll really have an effect on the game.
