In Case You Didn’t Know, Barbie Says Girls Can Do Anything In A New Ad

“What happens when girls are free to imagine they can be anything?” That’s the first question that a new Barbie ad asks. The concept is simple as little girls march out in front of lecture halls and soccer fields, proving their worth in all walks of life whether they’re a professor, a veterinarian or a coach — the message rings loud and clear. It’s also short and to the point, and the transition from the girls teaching their classes or looking at a patient’s cat, to a girl in her room playing with her Barbie dolls is a clever one. Clearly, Barbie and its marketing team believe that empowerment is important, and specifically significant for young girls — which is a nice development from a brand that hasn’t always been perceived as having an empowerment-friendly message.
