Benedict Cumberbatch Punched A Journalist For Keira Knightley

Benedict Cumberbatch is no fan of the press. If he’s not writing notes, he’s covering his face with napkins, though he might do that in his free time, when no one’s around, too. No judgement — at least now we know he’d make a great Invisible Man. Anyway, his distaste for all things media extends to defending his friends, because who would stand up for the millionaire if not other millionaires?

Keira told Elle magazine that BBC Radio 2 reviewer Mark Kermode once said something rude about her acting ability on air — during a period where he referred to her affectionately as Ikea Knightley — within Benedict’s earshot, and he took a friendly, but dim view of it, punching his arm.

She said: “When I saw him [Benedict] again, I said, ‘Did you punch a journalist?’ and he was like, ‘I f*cking did.’ Everybody needs a friend like that.” (Via)

You’ve got a friend in Cumbie. I’m not one to condone violence, but “Ikea Knightley”? For that sub-Jon Gruden-esque nickname, Cumberbatch should have Reichenbach Fall’d Kermode.
