Chris Webber, Fab Five Sort Of Make A Final Four Appearance

After numerous years of silence and non-appearances in regards to his alma mater, Chris Webber set personal feelings aside long enough to attend last night’s NCAA Basketball Championship game between the Michigan Wolverines and the Louisville Cardinals. Sports junkies know that C-Webb has had a tumultuous relationship with his former teammates and school since that infamous timeout/NCAA investigation.

All the way up to the game’s tipoff, the question loomed whether he would actually show up to the festivities in Atlanta to take part in the landmark moment, one that coincidentally fell in line with the 20 year anniversary of the end of the Fab 5 as we knew it. Whether it was the pleas from his former teammates on national TV/radio or current Michigan players like Tim Hardaway Jr. showing public displays of endearment to the legacy of the Fab Five, Webber decided to attend the game, as he put it, “to show support for Michigan’s men’s basketball team.”

The Fab Five, minus Webber

When all was said and done, his appearance slightly proves that time heals most wounds and to never say never, as some people have suggested concerning a reconciliation between Michigan and Webber. Although there were no photos/statements confirming it, hopefully this will open the door to an all-out Fab Five reunion in the future, as it would be a shame to see one of the biggest inspirations to the Hip-Hop generation and pop culture in general to not get closure and be cheated out of being celebrated as a full unit.
