Everybody has fond memories of The Little Mermaid, a movie that both brought Disney back to prominence after years in the animated wilderness and kicked off a whole string of classic animated musicals. On the other hand, it wasn’t exactly a documentary about the pants-crapping nightmare fuel that actually exists at the bottom of the ocean, something College Humor has decided to correct in a parody of Under The Sea.
If you were wondering, yeah, a fair chunk of this video is scientifically accurate. In fact, they were pulling their punches: The spookfish is also called the barreleye because its eyes face straight upwards, for example. Also, the family name, Opisthoproctidae, translates out to ‘behind the anus’ and I don’t even want to know how it got that moniker.
