Cuddle Clones Are The Creepiest ‘Cute’ Thing On The Internet

The internet loves cute animals and odd novelty gifts, so it was only a matter of time until someone put the two together with Cuddle Clones.

According to the Cuddle Clones website, founder Jennifer Graham was inspired by her Great Dane Rufus. She loved him so much that she wanted a custom-made stuffed animal of her beloved pet.

Jennifer thought to herself “It would be great to have a stuffed animal of Rufus! Not a generic stuffed animal but one that was 100% custom-made to look JUST like him.” Several years passed but Jennifer never completely let go of the idea she had on that day. Then, in the fall of 2009, her beloved Rufus began to get sick. Rufus passed away on Thanksgiving of that year. Jennifer decided then and there that she would pursue the idea she had never quite let go of, and in doing so, honor Rufus’ memory. This was the day Cuddle Clones was born.

Here is a look at a few of the Cuddle Clones and their real-life counterparts:

A portion of Cuddle Clones sales is donated back to animal shelters and organizations like Dogs on Deployment and PetFinder.

Maybe it is the uncanny duplication of beloved family pets, down to a cat’s missing eye. Maybe it was the recent marathon of Black Mirror. Maybe it is the fact that the founder made a plush duplicate of her dearly-departed dog, but Cuddle Clones is weird to me. Making a plush duplicate of a pet for the sole purpose of cuddling is distressing, especially if that pet is alive and wanting to cuddle or go for a walk. It has found plenty of happy customers, though, including the author of this glowing testimonial:

‘I think Cuddle Clones might be the absolute greatest company in existence.’
