Explains the beard

A couple years back, Jags tackle Eben Britton was growing out a mustache for Movember, the annual November drive to support the fight against prostate cancer, as well as a host of other manyly man-type cancers. Someone from the NPR affiliate in Jacksonville invited Britton to come on the air and explain the cause. Britton had never listened to NPR, but it appears that he took to public radio quite well, as the guy now has his own weekly NPR show in Jacksonville where he indulges his creative side and broadcasts chillwave playlists. Careful, Eben, that’s a quick way for coaches to brand you as one of those “too-smart Myron Rolle” types.

Once set free, the scourge of intellectual curiosity will only continue to flourish and it’s only a matter of time until something like this happens:

I’m thinking about doing a Brooklyn show because I was born in New York City and lived in Brooklyn until I was 11. Also, I’m still trying to work out how to do it, but I want to do a multi-part show with the epic poem “Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.” It’s like 80 pages, so I could do four consecutive shows with the story. It will have music, too, and be oriented around bravery and heroism.

Hoo boy.

Welp, it will be refreshing that, amid the barrage of stories of NFL players retiring for health reasons, that instead we’ll have an offensive lineman departing the NFL so he open a sports poetry-themed book store called “Eros and Kneepads” while assembling a band of anarcho-syndicalist triangle players in Greenpoint.
