Thursday night, the Thunder saw their league-high 12-game win streak snapped by the Timberwolves; a run which may already be in jeopardy of falling seeing as how a team from Los Angeles is threatening to break the mark. The Clippers made franchise history Friday night, notching their 12th consecutive victory with a 97-85 win against the Virginia Beach Kings. At the same time, Eric Bledsoe walked away with his own personal highlight reel.
Discussion around here a few days ago focused on Bledsoe and whether or not he’s one of the three best athletes in the NBA. I’m not sure exactly where he stands, but saying he’s not a physical freak-of-nature resembling a concrete slab with legs is admitting a) you need to watch more basketball and b) you must not remember him from Kentucky.* Bledsoe’s chase-down “welcome to the NBA” moment on Thomas Robinson was one thing.** Catching a tomahawk alley from Chris Paul was just showing off because, you know, barely six feet point guards with crazy bunnies is just the status quo in the NBA these days. Having the entire thing called by Bill Walton? Just the icing on the cake.
Bledsoe finished with six points, but the Clips were led by the usual duo of CP3 and Blake Griffin to the tune of 24 points, 13 assists and five steals and 21 points and 13 rebounds, respectively.
* – Here’s the thing, too. Saying he’s a great athlete is not saying he’s a top five player in the NBA, although he fits in quite well in the Clippers scheme.
** – And for the record, Bledsoe is actually is referred to “mini-LeBron.” Dubbed by James, himself.
