J. Cole – “I’m A Fool”

Seems like light-skinned Jermaine’s making the rounds like it’s 2010. Yet, in this instance, Cole used a novel approach to reach and connect with his audience all at once. A lucky, random fan on Twitter got the honors to debut “I’m A Fool” last night in its entirety. Now he or she is probably gaining followers by the second while Cole’s eying his ever-increasing approval rating. The backstory’s cool but how does the song actually stack up?

J. Cole is lyrically back in form via his tried and true underdog appeal with a dash of introspection and growth. The Melanie Fiona-assisted version of Cee Lo’s “Fool For You” plays prominently in the background slightly sped up with new drums and a pronounced bass line. Cole’s words easily take the spotlight here though. All in all “I’m A Fool” does its job for heads wanting to hear the same ‘ol Cole they rooted for in the first place. You could probably do much worse in the daily selection of mp3’s so give it a go.
