L.E.P. Bogus Boys Talk Upcoming Kanye West Collaboration

Depending on whom you ask from Chicago, Kanye West is either a “great musical ambassador for the city” or “a sell-out.” Maybe his reputation in the Windy City isn’t that cut-and-dry, but it’s close, as he’s become a global renaissance man with each publicized move. However, two MCs that Chicago Hip-Hop fans will rally ’round, Southside’s L.E.P. Bogus Boys, never warrant the dreaded “S-word.” They could even help restore a bit of Yeezy’s regional cred if a proposed collaboration track drops this year.

When BET’s Jabari Johnson caught up with the Bogus Boys, Johnson brought up the vaunted list of Chi-City’s Hip-Hop exports, mentioning Kanye. Around the 2:45 mark, the duo alludes to the project they cut with West, mentioning that the G.O.O.D. Music maestro “produced it, did a hook and a verse.”

Although Count and Moonie continue to satisfy their fans with grimy tales of Chicago street life, the potential behind the track could position their product to reach the casual listeners who solely pine for new West material. Yet, the most interesting facet will be seeing how Yeezy incorporates his omnipotent sound with the Bogus Boys’ guttural subject matter. However, despite this prospective identity crisis, it’ll still be worthwhile–one that esoteric L.E.P. fans and mainstream Kanye listeners can look forward to.
