NASA Parodies Meghan Trainor’s ‘All About That Bass’ With, You Guessed It, ‘All About That Space’

While NASA’s new Orion spacecraft just had a successful test flight, it seems the best is yet to come. Volunteers from the Johnson Space Center’s student initiative just released their carefully crafted, expertly mixed video parody of Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” to get us lay folks excited about space exploration.

NASA uploaded the video to YouTube yesterday, accompanied by a brief press release:

“All About That Space” is a volunteer outreach video project created by the Pathways Interns of NASA’s Johnson Space Center. It was created as a parody (to raise interest and excitement for Orion’s first flight) of Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass”. The lyrics and scenes in the video have been re-imagined in order to inform the public about the amazing work going on at NASA and the Johnson Space Center.

NASA’s Orion spacecraft is built to take humans farther than they’ve ever gone before. Orion will serve as the exploration vehicle that will carry the crew to space, provide emergency abort capability, sustain the crew during the space travel, and provide safe re-entry from deep space return velocities.

The video was used in-house to stir student volunteers up for the Orion test flight before NASA’s head honchos decided to release it to the public. I, for one, have never felt more pride in our nation’s efforts to chart the stars. In addition to sending humans further into space than ever before, we can also provide them with a rockin’ parody soundtrack!

The day before the video’s release, David Weaver, NASA’s head of communications, posted this bit of financial know-how to Twitter:

Now that they can afford licensing fees for the actual music, does this mark the end of NASA using parody songs and videos to pump up the jams in office?
