“Manos: The Hands of Fate” is, for the five of you who haven’t seen it, a legendarily awful movie. But its acclaim as cinematic vomit is actually fairly recent: it wasn’t until MST3K got their hands on it that it became acclaimed as the worst movie of all time.
And now, one man has stepped forward to save it. For some reason.
For obvious reasons, nobody cared enough about this movie to restore it or even keep a print in decent shape, but Ben Solovey lucked into a workprint from an eBay option. A workprint is basically the first edit (and quite possibly, considering the film, the final edit).
And, nice guy that he is, he’s started a Kickstarter to restore it that’s already over its goal. But, hey, for fifty bucks, you can get a restored Blu-Ray. Or just look at the restored stills here.
