The New Trailer For ‘Mass Effect: Andromeda’ Shows Off Some Serious Tech And An Expanding Galaxy

The Mass Effect series means something different to everyone, and that’s a testament to the quality of the series. Through three games, we followed Commander Shephard and made him (or her) our own. But his story and his universe are no more. EA is moving beyond the galaxy Earth calls home, and now we have Mass Effect: Andromeda, which is neither a sequel or a prequel; it’s a story that’s playing out in conjunction with Shepard’s battles against the reapers, and it looks absolutely gorgeous.

Little is known about Mass Effect: Andromeda‘s plot, but this EA Play trailer ahead of E3 shows off some serious tech for the latest Mass Effect. It looks like we’ll be once again in an all-terrain vehicle, despite the original Mass Effect’s clunky Mako gameplay. Still — everything looks incredible, which is expected for the series, but the potential for traversing the universe in your ship, then landing on individual planets to explore seems like EA’s take on No Man’s Sky and heavy story elements.

Few games can elicit an emotional reaction like Mass Effect. Interacting with your fellow squadmates and developing relationships is truly special. Will Andromeda have characters as dimensional and important as Garrus, Wrex, Mordin or Grunt? We’ll find out soon enough, it seems.
