Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas are calling it quits after eighteen years of marriage, which in Hollywood terms is like a million years of marriage. It was Banderas’ second marriage and Griffith’s fourth. The couple released this statement to People:
In a statement sent from their rep, the couple says, “We have thoughtfully and consensually decided to finalize our almost twenty years marriage in a loving and friendly manner honoring and respecting each other, our family and friends and the beautiful time we have spent together.”
Most people don’t remember this, but Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas were like the original Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. The couple met while filming Two Much in 1995 and, at the time, Griffiths was married to Don Johnson and Banderas was married to Spanish actress Ana Leza. It was SCAAAAANDALOUS for back then.
So what I’m saying is, Don Johnson is somewhere out there gloating pretty hard today. IT’S BEEN 18 YEARS BUT DON JOHNSON STILL HAS FEELINGS.
