New Logo, New Look For The Brooklyn Nets

While a handful of teams still tied to the 2012 season, non-playoff teams are working towards the next year. Positioning themselves for the future, the Brooklyn Nets unveiled their new logo and colors at a news conference held on Monday. The relocated Nets team shield now features their name in the previous logo font, blocked by the letter B and placed inside a shield reminiscent of the Oakland Raiders. Gone is the team’s previous primary color scheme of blue and red in favor of basic black and white.

In a statement, part-owner Jay-Z called the revamped look “another step we’ve made to usher the organization into a new era. The boldness of the designs demonstrate the confidence we have in our new direction.” Even if the team is rubbish for a while (spoiler alert: it will be), the clean, simple look with rap references mixed in means we can expect a lot of merchandise to be moved in a short amount of time, to people who may (or may not) have interest in Brooklyn, the Nets or professional basketball.

What say you? Would you cop a Brooklyn Nets fitted?
