Reks – “Autographs”

For Reks’ next act, he’s dipping into the vault of frequent cohort Statik Selektah to release Straight, No Chaser. Accordingly, the first single “Autographs,” the first single off the project, is a song that only begins to show the the fluid chemistry between the two artists. I’m always partial to those cuts and scratched hooks so Statik gets brownie points for those in my books, and the beat itself is on the slower end, yet the horns and synths make it powerful and motivational.

Reks then skillfully handles the goods and delivers some solid bars and versatile flow to describe the goods and bads of the rap life. The concept is far from novel, but the duo provides a very fresh take that’s definitely worth taking the time to listen to. The entire album is going to be produced by Statik Selektah, so it shouldn’t be too far fetched to expect a tracklisting full of excellent records such as this.
