Pixar Is Reportedly Going To Make Their Own ‘Star Wars’ Movie That Will Tie-In With ‘Episode VII’

Much like when Disney acquired Marvel Comics, we all speculated how long it would be until Pixar was involved in the new Star Wars media empire being constructed at the “House Of Mouse.” Well it all might become a reality sooner than later because Latino Review is reporting that Pixar has been given their own Star Wars movie to produce and it will supposedly tie-in with the new J.J. Abrams Trilogy. From the article:

Once the canon-purge is over and Episode VII is in production, there will be a whole universe of Star Wars related content to play in. We’ve heard about TV shows, new comics tie-ins (Marvel, of course), spin-off movies for particular characters and now, a Pixar film.

At this point, no idea what the size or shape of this film will be and given the long-view storytelling production model that is part of the Pixar brand, this could be a long way off. We can expect it to take place in the middle of a Venn Diagram between Star Wars and A Pixar Movie, and what that means to you depends on your definition of both.

So replace that original speculation with more Pixar-themed speculation and story possibilities. Here’s hoping it isn’t droid focused.

This wouldn’t be the first foray into animation for the series, considering the terrifying  Ewoks and Droids cartoons, the popular Clone Wars series on Cartoon Network and the much cooler Clone Wars shorts by Genndy Tartakovsky.

Knowing Pixar’s track record and the ripe stories that could come from the Star Wars universe, you can’t help but get excited for such news. It is either going to be the best of times for Star Wars fans or it will be the kind of crushing defeat that George Lucas could’ve only dreamed of when he wrote The Phantom Menace.
