On his new track, “Shine,” Chicago rapper-producer Rashid Hadee chronicles his attempts to make it as an artist in a city in which slangin’ dope, not raps, is the business of choice for many. He’s all too aware of the stakes–he’s seen first hand how the dealers and the “flashy pimps” he looked up to as a kid turn to ghosts before too long, and it’s a reality that strengthens his resolve to persevere in his legitimate hustle. Hadee turns to S1 for the crisp, organic production on this one, while Deonis “Pumah” Cooks delivers the hopeful chorus.
