One Of The New ‘SNL’ Hires Once Made A Video Poking Fun At Kristen Wiig’s Impressions

With Saturday Night Live
‘s annual-ish cast member shake-up over — and the departures of a couple heavy-hitters a distant memory — all eyes are already on the late-night institution’s latest recruits. They include Alex Moffat, a veteran of Chicago’s improv comedy scene, that-guy-from-that-one-thing Mikey Day, and accomplished voice artist Melissa Villaseñor, whose spot-on celebrity impersonations have garnered her over 50,000 subscribers on YouTube.

One of Villaseñor’s most popular video series is “Daily Itineraries,” which features the gifted performer assuming a celebrity’s morning routine as she plans out her day. Produced by digital studio Más Mejor, Villaseñor and her keen eye for detail have parodied celebrities like Sarah Silverman and Jennifer Lopez, even political figures like Sonia Sotomayor and presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton. However, the video that’s generating the most buzz lately showcases Villaseñor’s ability to mimic the voice and quirks of beloved SNL alum Kristen Wiig.

Not only does Villaseñor nail Wiig’s vocal ticks, she also pokes fun at the Ghostbuster star’s propensity for melancholic roles since her days at Studio 8H. “The Crying Heart, or The Rainy Heart,” she says while brainstorming titles for the serious film she plans to write. “Or how about Tears? No, maybe just Sad. Sad Lady.” Then she squeezes a whoopee cushion while nervously laughing. It’s a playful parody, one that Wiig would definitely appreciate given her own gift for impersonations.
