Like an unannounced guest, Starlito just showed up at everyone’s door last night with a new mixtape, Attention, Tithes & Taxes. What we get is a quick five-song set that feels like Lito shootin’ jumpers in the gym while readying his next project, Cold Turkey. Not that Attention… doesn’t deserve it’s proper time in the tape deck, not with Star doing his signature moves where he turns clever phrases one after the other (see “Kenny Griffey” with the “four charges/Chargers” flip and “I’m just trying to make a difference, though I only does addition”). Don Trip shows up, as does Petty but it’s mostly Lito going for dolo and making it all sound effortless.
The momentum is building, when you add in his recent “Reasonable Emotion” mini-movie and this project rolling everything right into Cold Turkey, which sounds like it will release on July 2nd or 4th, and then followed by Stepbrothers 2, according to Lito. Summertime + new Star for the car, which is about as good as life can get.
