Take An Exclusive Early Look At Marvel’s Upcoming ‘X-Force’ #2

Marvel has been on a roll with the second wave of Marvel NOW!, introducing some excellent new books that bring in both hardcore fans and new readers. But around here, our most eagerly anticipated book has been the upcoming return of X-Force, and we’ve got an exclusive look at some art from the upcoming second issue.

X-Force has us excited for two reasons: The creative team and the concept.

First, the concept. Mutants, like every other group, need a black-ops force, somebody who will handle the dirty work and do the hard job of cleaning up the mess. That falls, more often than not, to X-Force, a team of mutants who can fight on the same level as their foes. More specifically, it falls to Cable, Psylocke, Marrow, and Fantomex to get the job done.

But it’s the creative team that deserves equal attention. Si Spurrier, best known to Marvel fans for his stunning work on X-Men Legacy, is one of the best writers on the stands these days: He first came to our attention with the miniseries Extermination for Boom! Studios, and delivered one of the best comics of 2013 with Numbercruncher. Meanwhile, Rock-He Kim, on art, has delivered some stylish and well-rendered comics for Marvel in the past.

And that’s exactly what we get in this exclusive first look; here are three pages of Kim’s art, with a few hints about what to expect from X-Force. The first issue is on sale tomorrow.
