Most dogs and cats seem content to live their lives according to their species-specific stereotypes, closing themselves off to the possibility of friendship with one another. It’s so cliche, but Jasper the cat isn’t about rules. Apparently, his dog-roommate, Bow-Z, has been gone for 10 days, and Jasper wants there to be no confusion: He missed him.
As you can see in the video, Bow-Z isn’t the kind to give in to his emotions, so he stands quiet and still while receiving these hugs. You can see the impact that Jasper’s affection has when you look into Bow-Z’s eyes, though. This is what friendship is. Unless I’m terrible at reading animals, and the cat is actually trying to choke out the dog. I don’t know, I’ve been bitten and scratched up by house pets before. I can’t read them. I ain’t no Jackson Galaxy or some kind of Beastmaster/Doctor Dolittle hybrid.
