Florida’s WINK CBS News just happened to be passing by the scene of an accident last week in Naples, in which a 49-year-old woman crashed her BMW into the back of a another car that was stopped at an intersection. That in itself wouldn’t exactly be breaking news, except for the fact that the woman driving was wearing nothing but a bikini, was allegedly heavily intoxicated, and had her 10-year-old grandson in the car.
Patricia Ebel had reportedly been spending the day at the pool with her grandson prior to the accident, but from the sound of it, maybe someone was drinking tequila out of sunscreen bottles. Ebel failed the field sobriety tests that the responding officers gave her, claiming that she “couldn’t stand on one leg on a good day,” and while that may be true, officers unfortunately reported that she also reeked heavily of alcohol.
Ebel is facing DUI charges with a minor in the car and allegedly had a blood alcohol content more than twice the legal limit. Thankfully, the boy was uninjured, even running up to give his grandmother a hug before her arrest. The driver of the other car was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
You know, as far as drunk Florida grandmothers go, I have to admit that ol’ Patty Ebel isn’t so sore on the eyes. Andy Isaac personally told me that he’d hit it, is all I’m saying.
