“The Venture Bros.” has gone from a funny goof on terrible adventure cartoons of the ’60s and ’70s to an often profoundly funny meditation on failure and mediocrity with a ridiculously deep mythology. Pick a name; they’ve gone from a sketch to a much more complicated character over the space of four seasons. It really is one of the best shows currently on TV, and we’re getting two more seasons.
Jackson Publick announced it on his LiveJournal that they’ve officially signed a contract to deliver two more seasons, and not just two more seasons, but also a feature-length special and, because they like to carry things on, an 11-minute special they’ve been secretly writing and producing in-house.
Personally, I hope the eleven-minute special is just Brock and Shore Leave making smart-ass remarks to each other, because that’s the funniest thing on cable.
