Ultimate Marvel Is Being Re-Launched Yet Again With Three New Titles

Marvel sure does like to re-launch their Ultimate line, don’t they? I kind of lost track of the Ultimate stuff somewhere around the second re-launch. Or was it the third? Well, anyways, surprise surprise, the latest batch of Ultimate Marvel books haven’t been selling that well, so there’s only one possible solution — another re-launch!

Once the current “Oh crap, the Ultimate version of Galactus showed up to the party” crossover event ends, Marvel will kick off Ultimate Marvel NOW, which will see the launch of three “new” Ultimate Marvel titles…

Brian Michael Bendis and David Marquez will continue doing the Ultimate Spider-Man thing under a slightly different title with Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man.

Ultimate FF will be written by Joshua Hale Fialkov (I, Vampire and IDW’s Doctor Who Comics) and drawn by Mario Guevara (Solomon Kane). The book will focus on the Ultimate universe version of the Future Foundation, which will include Sue Storm, Tony Stark and a couple other mystery members.

Finally, there’s the All-New Ultimates, which will be written by up-and-comer Michael Fiffe (Copra) and drawn by Amilcar Pinna. The book will have an all young, all sassy cast including Miles Morales and Ultimate versions of Kitty Pryde, Cloak and Dagger, Bombshell and Black Widow.

Some of these books seem interesting, and it’s cool to see some new creative talent getting a shot, but let’s be real — these books won’t sell. The Ultimate universe was conceived over a decade ago as something to attract young, hip comics readers, but today young hip people are too busy watching Marvel movies based on the mainline Marvel Universe to care. But Bendis needs a place to do his Spider-Man thing, so on we go.
