A Wannabe Vigilante Opened Fire On A Busy Home Depot Parking Lot Attempting To Stop A Shoplifter

Earlier this week, two men — a white man who was described as being between 40 and 50 years old, and an African-American man around 40 — made off with a shopping cart full of loot at an Auburn Hills, Michigan Home Depot. According to reports, the first man loaded up the cart and fled the store (while being chased by a loss-prevention officer), while the second man waited in a small, black SUV in the parking lot.

What would most people do in this situation? Perhaps call 911 or try to take down the license plate number? Both viable, level-headed options, but a 47-year-old woman whose name is being withheld instead decided to take it upon herself to whip out her gun and shoot at the suspects, opening fire in the busy Home Depot parking lot.

Thankfully, she did not hit any bystanders, and did manage to shoot out one of the SUV’s tires. However, the two men still escaped. Although police did say the woman had a concealed weapons license, there is no license for shooting up a damn Home Depot parking lot, so prosecutors are determining whether or not charges will be filed.

A police officer told Detroit’s ABC 7 News, “The best thing anyone who witnesses or thinks they’re witnessing a crime can do is be a good eye-witness for us, gather information, write down information, give it to the officers when they arrive, or contact the police department when they see something happen.”

Here’s the surveillance footage of one of the men leaving the store, although the shooter is out of frame:
