Witness ‘Final Fantasy VII’ Completely Recreated In ‘LittleBigPlanet 2’

Jamie Colliver is a man who loves two games: LittleBigPlanet 2 and Final Fantasy VII. So he recreated the latter inside the former.

We’re not talking about a fun little costume, or a tribute platforming level.

We’re talking about the whole game.

Don’t believe me? Here’s the first thirty minutes of about two hours of YouTube footage Colliver has posted.

Literally everything is here, built from the ground up, from the combat system to the conversations to the boss fights. Even the music was recomposed, from the ground up, and if you listen closely, the tracks are very close to the original soundtrack. This took Colliver six months, and spans twenty levels.

Why? Because he loves the game, pretty much. Granted that it’s not entirely perfect, and it’s unlikely to be allowed to exist for very long once Square Enix gets a load of it, but we bring it up for two reasons:

One, it’s absolutely amazing that he was able to put this together, especially inside another game.

Two, he did it with commercially available tools. Seriously, this guy recreated an epic in six months using a game you can get for twenty bucks at Target.

I think we’re officially not allowed to complain about games not existing anymore.
