Reddit hit society with an Earth shaking rumor the other day. A mysterious poster, let’s call him Joes Nipples (Steve Barnes), submitted this image to the site. It shows what is alleged to be Doritos flavored Mountain Dew, a nightmare decision that could ruin or save the world as we know it.
Turns out the stuff is real, confirmed by Pepsi themselves. Quartz reached out to the soft drink company/destroyer of worlds and got the following statement in return:
We are always testing out new flavors of Mountain Dew, and giving our fans a voice in helping decide on the next new product has always been important to us. We opened up the DEW flavor vault and gave students a chance to try this Doritos-inspired flavor as part of a small program at colleges and universities. (via)
Why would you make the burn out fantasies of the Internet a reality, Pepsi? Barnes himself said it was only good for a novelty, but probably isn’t something he’d drink on the reg. Don’t do this to the people. If they want Doritos flavor in their Mountain Dew, let them do it the way that God intended it to happen. Pureed and frozen into a slushy cocktail, served with a side of hot links and a beer chaser. You make me sick, Pepsi.
