Earlier this week, YouTube user Mylo the Cat found the internet’s sweet spot with the amazing mashup of The Muppet’s Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem performing Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s “Shimmy Shimmy Ya.” There’s something about beloved childhood icons throwing down some explicit rhymes that really, really works. This type of video has been around for a while, so much so that they even inspired an official Muppet lip sync of “Glad All Over” by the Dave Clark Five that came out with their 2008 special, A Muppet’s Christmas: Letters to Santa.
The internet being what it is, most of these videos take a more mature turn. However, I do not believe that these mashups will “ruin your childhood.” Instead, it’ll probably strengthen the bond you have with these felt animals and whatever Gonzo and a Doctor Teeth is, since like you, they grew up to drink, curse and drop dope rhymes. So put on some headphones and check out these great Muppet lip-sync moments.
“So What’cha Want” by The Beastie Boys
This honestly may be mankind’s finest achievement. The Beastie Boys were already great; The Leprechaun Brothers only make them greater.
“Hip Hop Hooray” by Naughty By Nature
No offense to “Moving Right Along,” but this seems like a more fun road-trip song.
“Just a Friend” by Biz Markie
Rowlf is the Muppet’s resident deadpan sad sack, as seen in “I Hope That Something Better Comes Along,” so this ode to the friend-zone is a brilliant choice.
“The Humpty Dance” by The Digital Undergound
Gonzo’s true nature is put on display in this video: swag for days. Considering his love for chickens, it may be best to not overthink this one.
“Wrecking Ball” by Miley Cyrus
While the stripped down (literally) original music video may not be Miss Piggy’s style, her over-the-top flair fits with the emotion of the song.
“Yellow” by Coldplay
Let’s be real: Beaker is a more charismatic performer than Chris Martin.
“Master of Puppets” by Metallica
Animal is an excellent stand-in for Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich. Also, this selection is a little meta, no?
“Highway to Hell” by AC/DC
An epic trip deserves an equally epic soundtrack, so AC/DC fits the bill. Not bad for a frog and a bear in a Studebaker.
“Back in Black” by AC/DC
Beaker’s rendition of “Feelings” provided a lot of fodder for these videos. AC/DC was definitely a bad-ass upgrade.
“Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen
This was originally a straight cover of the operatic power ballad, but there is something special about Beaker hitting the classic high note in the lip-sync version.
“Monster” by Kanye West
Love him or hate him, it’s hard to deny Kanye’s talent. While it is initially unsettling to see Muppets drop f-bombs, it’s so well done that you acclimate quickly.

Which is more jarring: Cookie Monster rapping about smoking blunts or Miley’s voice coming out of Kermit?
