Confession: I've officially watched more “True Detective” parodies than I have episodes of the actual show, because, well, I've never actually seen the show. But hey, I totally get the joke now. Matthew McConaughey's character has a horseshoe mustache and speaks a lot of faux-philosophical nonsense at conference tables. I mean, what is he even talking about, right? Seriously.
Anyway, Patton Oswalt has also made a “True Detective” parody to promote his delightfully-titled new Comedy Central special “Tragedy Plus Comedy Equals Time,” and it seems pretty on point. Also, his is the only one thus far to make use of the Big Hug Mug, which must surely count for something.
