While my faith in humanity was briefly restored this morning upon the news that That’s My Boy and Rock of Ages both tanked at the box office over the weekend, it pretty much all went away when I read this news story out of Jackson, Mississippi this morning.
The short version: in 2008, Scott Crawford, a retired clinical psychologist with multiple sclerosis, began building LEGO Jackson, an interactive display of Mississippi’s capital city built using LEGO pieces. Last week vandals broke into…wait for it…Uncle Bob’s Storage in Jackson, where the LEGO display was being held, and destroyed it, for seemingly unknown reasons.
The project was found vandalized last week at Uncle Bob’s self-storage facility on I-55 North, where it was stored with possessions belonging to Crawford’s sister, Rene Berry. His sister’s unit also suffered water damage as a result of Monday night’s storm.
“Someone just did a Katrina on our LEGO Jackson,” Berry said, as she described the vandalism and water damage. “Nobody can really grasp what it takes for someone with a disability and little energy like Scott to put something like that together.”
The world is full of dicks, ya heard?
