The “Harlem Shake” phenomenon has been around since the ’80s, but this silly dance has recently exploded in popularity. Our own Josh Kurp explained the meme very well here. The short version is, “one person dances, beat drops, everyone’s dancing.”
Now the Norwegian Army has discovered the dance, and they’ve raised the bar for all future Harlem Shake videos. This is exactly the silliness we’ve come to expect from a nation whose King’s Guard is led by a penguin:
Colonel-in-Chief Sir Nils Olav is a King Penguin living in Edinburgh Zoo, Scotland. He is the mascot and Colonel-in-Chief of the Norwegian King’s Guard. On August 18, 2005, he was promoted to Colonel-in-Chief and on 15 August 2008 he was awarded a knighthood. He is the first penguin to receive such an honor in the Norwegian army. [The Daily What]
